A fun visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens to see the Model Train Exhibits. This consists of two parts. The first being in the main building at RBG. The Botanical Train display is large and you can walk amongst the models and railroads. It is constructed from over seven tons of cedar slabs, 3,000 pounds of rock and 250 feet of track. This display shows famous Canadian landmarks from coast to coast.
The second part is in a building in the Rock Garden down the road from the main building. This is the Escarpment Train Exhibit. This model railroad takes you on a journey through four seasons of our Canadian landscapes and at the same time  telling the story of how railroads shaped our history in Canada. The Exhibit shows the different eras of locomotion history and includes the steam engines of the late 1800s, the streamliners of the 1930s and the powerful modern diesels of the 1960s up to present day.
It is a fun outing for the children. They can enjoy and at the same time learn some of out history of how the buildings of the railroads brought us together as a Country.
